Have an Adventure in Costa Rica
By Ray L. Walberg

Costa Rica has become surprisingly popular as a tourist destination in recent years. People have fallen in love with the beautiful country and wonderful people. The economic climate has made it one of the last real bargains for Americans.

Before you take the plunge and go to Costa Rica, there are some things you should know. It always helps to be prepared when you take a trip to a foreign land.

Of course, you already know that Costa Rica is in Central America. It's a small country but, located as it is between the Caribbean and the Pacific, it boasts of a wonderful climate. Maybe that climate has something to do with Costa Rica's near miraculous achievement of having more than 100 years of political stability, especially in an age where other parts of Central American have faced years of violence. Costa Rica is believed to be the oldest democracy in Latin America.

Because of this success, don't expect your trip to be like "Romancing the Stone" or some other adventure film. Your vacation will be as adventurous or relaxing as you want it to be. As long as you take the usual common sense precautions, you should have a memorable trip, for all the right reasons. There are a variety of activities to try, from the adventurous to the sedate. You're only limited by your imagination and your budget.

Many people have discovered this nation already and because of that, the nation is growing. Because it extends across the whole isthmus and touches both the Caribbean and the Pacific, it can take advantage of trade on both sides. There are regular flights to most anywhere one needs to go. Costa Rica's economy has blossomed to such an extent that many foreigners have made it their home. There are many communities of expatriates throughout the nation, filled with many people who haven't regretted their decision to live in this lovely nation.

Because the economy has boomed so much, the country offers everything a traveler could want. There are all sorts of accommodations, from five star hotels to budget motels. As with any vacation planning, plan ahead and consult a travel agent. Your travel agent can make any arrangements you need.

You should also contact Costa Rica's tourism office. The employees there will do everything they can to help you get familiar with their homeland. They are accustomed to dealing with foreign travelers and they know what they need to make the trip truly enjoyable. Tourism is an important source of revenue for Costa Rica and the friendly people there want to make sure such success continues.

If you are ready for an exotic vacation that still has all the amenities of home, consider a trek to Costa Rica. You'll have a wonderful time.
